William Klein (b. 1928) is an American-French photographer and filmmaker born in New York City. He is known for his unconventional style of abstract photography depicting city scenes. His works are held in collections including the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan and the Art Institute of Chicago. His films include the 1969 documentary Muhammad Ali, The Greatest, the 1970 documentary Eldridge Cleaver, Black Panther, and the 1977 narrative feature The Model Couple. In 1999, he was awarded the Royal Photographic Society's Centenary Medal and Honorary Fellowship.
