Alighiero Boetti (1940-1994) was an Italian conceptual artist, painter, sculptor, embroiderer, and author born in Turin, Italy. He came to prominence as part of the Arte Povera movement. He received a major posthumous retrospective on his work at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid, which then traveled to the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan and the Tate Modern in London.
